FCA Updates crypto-asset regulation webpage

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The FCA has updated its webpages setting out its approach to the imminent regulation of cryptoassets to confirm that cryptoasset firms will be able to apply for authorisation or to vary their existing permissions from 7am on 30 September 2026 with the new regime coming into effect on 25 October 2027.

The updated webpages provide links to a wide range of resources including the implementing legislation (The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Cryptoassets) Regulations 2026), the FCA’s detailed written guidance on various aspects of the new regime and links to a number of webinars the FCA will be running.
