2024 promises to be another busy one in pensions, with new legislation, regulatory guidance, policy developments and record-breaking risk transfer deals. This overview highlights the key developments that will dominate trustee, employer and pensions industry agendas. Highlights from across the pensions team in 2023

Gowling WLG’s award winning pensions team completed 2023 on a high with two multi-billion pensions risk transfer transactions completing in December. In a changing and busy pensions market, Gowling WLG’s pensions team delivered practical and commercially-focused solutions for its growing client base.

Scheme Advisory team in 2023

2023 has been another fantastic year for our trustee-focused pensions scheme advisory practice. The year brought with it some exciting projects as well as plenty of regulatory matters for our clients to get to grips with. Our practice has been strengthened by internal promotions, lateral hires and new client wins. We will continue to invest in our team throughout the coming year.

Sponsor Advisory team in 2023

Our sponsor / employer advisory practice is led by Partner, Paul Carberry and the majority of our 40+ pensions lawyers advise both employers and trustees. Our extensive employer client base covers a range of sectors including tech, manufacturing, regulated industries, retail, not for profit and government bodies.

Pensions Disputes team in 2023

Our specialist Pensions Disputes team focus on resolving issues and problems that trustees and employers might encounter during the life of their pension schemes. The team is led by Ian Gordon, recognised as a “Leading Individual” and ranked “Band 1” for pensions disputes and the Chair of the Litigation Committee of the Association of Pension Lawyers.
